A series of ritual murders shakes the small town of Bright Falls on the Pacific Northwest coast. Experienced FBI agent Saga Anderson has already solved many hopeless cases. Now she has to investigate these murders. Anderson's case turns into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that is slowly becoming reality. Writer Alan Wake, trapped in a nightmare beyond our world, writes a dark tale to change the reality around him and escape his prison. Hunted by dark terrors, Wake struggles not to lose his mind and tries to beat the devil at his own game. Anderson and Wake struggle desperately in separate realities and yet are connected at their core in a way they do not understand: they mirror each other, repeat each other and influence the worlds that surround them. A supernatural darkness, fueled by the horror story, infests Bright Falls, corrupting its inhabitants and threatening Anderson's and Wake's loved ones. Light is their weapon - and safe haven - in the battle against the darkness. Can they break out of a horror story full of victims and monsters to become the heroes they need to be?
